I always wanted a smartwatch (like those gsm android smart watch) but $100 is a bit much for me.

I was thinking of using the esp8266 module as the main MCU and hooking up a few things:

- I have a esp module (not sure which one)
- nokia lcd screen ($2.36 cost free shipping) http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Nokia-5110- ... 3ce6dbb789
- 2.4 ghz transceiver module ($0.96 cost) http://www.ebay.com/itm/1Pcs-Wireless-T ... 19e9e6be43

I sadly do not have any skills in soldering or electronics but the total cost of this smartwatch could be $15

Not to mention you can use the freedompop free 500 mb data (for free wifi data) and since today is cyber money you can get the usb for free http://freedompop.com/

(sorry if this sounds like a advertisement, just listing the prices and locations to make this cheap smart watch)

I just wish I knew how to solder, I am more of a programmer.

maybe or maybe not to the extent of causing troubles on basic requirements.

i have wifi modules ( HLK ) back to back / side by side with NRF24L01 modules. also, i have NRF module inside a MR3020 running openwrt. never had problem putting the together.

You can make wifi oled smart watch but battery
Can be terrible :) you can use your esp smart watch just 2 hour with 350-400mah battery. It's to bad for watch isn't it?
