Esp8266 universal firmware questionin.

I was wondering how I could alter a code that is meant for a wemos d1 mini so that it works on a sonoff wifi switch.
The d1 mini has 4m flash and the sonoff has 1m flash.
What would be the parts of the code I would change for this to work?
