Programming an Arduino wirelessly via ESP8266

Nowadays most exciting thing about ESP8266 is the transparent mode of it. I got the firmware for the transparent mode from Github and it's working perfectly.
Some people also managed to program controllers like arduino wirelessly by using ESP8266.But there is not a single proper resource for it. Can someone please briefly explain about how to make this thing work ? If this thing is really possible,this is a major step for IOT products and I am sure some people from this community also have done it.
