ESP8266 Community Forum

I have destroyed the USB connector in my NodeMCU ESP8266 (WeMosD1R1). Is there a way to connect to it via an extra UART serial connector? Where can I hook it up to? Which pin should go up and down for run/prog mode?

- Sat Jan 09, 2021 10:43 am #90136 Sure. Just hook it up like the old fashioned Arduino use the Flash button. Hook up directions are all over the place. FTDI adapter- Tx to Rx +3 gnd hold flash (from memory, might be incorrect).

But if you need to buy a FTDI adapter you might as well buy a new D1 Mini, there is little difference in the cost .
While you are about it buy a second, just in case
