When IoT setup fails

Not sure this is the right place to post. Mod, please, feel free to move it to where it should be.
I have already 2 things working. One is a heater panel control. The other is a front light switch (plus some sensors).
Both are working rock solid, but my questions is: do you guys have a "plan b" just in case the controller (in my case: RPi3, Openhab, MQTT) fails? (IE: FS gets corrupted, no network available, etc.)
What your thoughts are about this?
Jose
