How EASILY add ESP-01 socket to the $49 101Hero 3d printer ?

Hi friends.
I am trying to convince the creators of https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/10 ... r/comments
to add an 8pin socket for the ESP-01 that can also be used for add-on boards with other ESP-XY to add functionalities like "Auto Level" or "heated bed" or "Webcam", etc.
That would turn this outstanding cheap beginner 3dprinter into the most innovative platform of 3d printing.
And i think, a lot of you would like to build on such a platform.
So what do you think, could this already work ?

Yes i no it is crazy to connect three device to one serial bus. But we would not need the usb-esp connection as the printer controller would flash new firmware from the sd card..
So please, don't simply say no, make up your mind how it could work out with the least amount of additional components. My proposal would only need the 8pin female socket !
If the printer controler is running with 5v, a few diodes instead of level shifters might also do..
Ideas welcome !
