G'day,
Have nodeMCU flashed my ESP-01 before without any problems with FTDI232 and have not changed my windows 8.1 platform.
While flashing, the blue blinks in synchronism with the FTDI RX led (about one a second) then fails after 50 blinks, with the progress bar just past the P in Port.
Advanced setting 9600/4M/40MHz/DIO. Have tried two other ESP-01, replaced FTDI, and reinstalled drivers.
But still have the problem.
Any ideas?

Have tried a few more actions:
1. Put a 10mfd across ESP8266 supply pins
2. Supplied a separate 3v3 Vcc
3. Used WIN32 flasher
4. Configured Flasher to use integer BIN files, instead of default BIN
But still get 50 blue blinks on ESP then an error.
