ESP-01 hardware defect, fake, bug?

Hi,

I've downloaded the espressif Flash Download Tools v3.3.4_Win to flash my ESP-01. I'm a little confused because the detected info is:
Code: Select allflash vendor:
E0h : N/A
flash devID:
4014h
QUAD;8Mbit
crystal:
2 Mhz
(crystal is 2 Mhz, not 20 Mhz!)
Searching the web brought up several pictures showing 20 Mhz. Anyone have an idea what's going on here? I may add that I do experience some issues with this board (e.g., problems to flash).

Thx & best!

Most likely a bug. The crystal should be 26-52MHz, according to the datasheet, so I doubt the chip would do anything with a 2MHz crystal.
If in doubt, read the label. ESP-01s don't have a cap and crystals are usually clearly labeled...

Thanks for the reply. The crystal is labeled 26.000.
I'm no expert in this area. Is it possible that such a crystal broke in some way that lowers it's real frequency?

Thx & best

Hi, switch an LED on and off timmed in mills, if the crystal realy is that far out the timing should be off by a factor of 13. i.e. 1 sec = 13 sec.
