NodeMcu por profesional purpuses? confiability of that chip?

I have heard that NodeMcu that is a chip that include the Esp8266 has a very low stability and it's better to use a separate ESP8266 (12-E 12-F 12-S) module with another Chip. Somebody knows if this kind of chip ist suitable for selling some profesional service or something like that. I would like another recomendation before still studing this chip. I have tried watchdog in order to avoid the code getting frozen.
FYI I am a mechanical engineer so that's not very much my field
