Hi All

I haven't got my hands on one of these modules yet but hoping someone else who has can confirm this for me.

According to the schematic posted below; (From ESP-12S user Manual)

Unlike the previous ESP-12x units the new ESP-12S has the required pull-up/down resistors and should be in running mode by default with only VCC and GND connected.

Can anyone confirm that for me please?

Yes. They run fine with just VCC and GND connected. One example here: https://github.com/HarringayMakerSpace/usb-esp
