New Esp8266 Development Board...

Hi my name is Matt,

Me and my partner are electrical engineering students based out of Michigan, and have recently become very excited about the ESP8266 chip. One thing we have noticed is that there is not a real development board out there for the chip and we would like to develop one. We really just want a board that gives us access to all the pins on the esp8266 for those who would like to experiment with the SDK and building there own firmware, because as you all know the 8266 is quite the powerful little chip and would work great as a standalone iot micro. I have posted and image of the current design.

I would just like to know your thoughts on the board and whether or not you would be interested in getting one. As we are torn on whether to go through with it or not.

I do my prototypes on breadboard. And that board does not look like breadboard friendly (because there are two pins in a row on each side instead of one, so they would be shorted on breadboard).

Also, for me, one very important feature of esp8266 boards is their price. So whether I'm interested in getting particular board depends on its price. The reasoning is that it's not very hard for me to make my esp-03 breadboard friendly, it's like 10 minutes of work and all I need is a piece of perfboard and some solder. Since it's only for hobby, it doesn't make sense to pay 5 times more for the board only to save those 10 minutes of work.

i agree with kadamski, making an expensive breakout board for a $3 esp-12 is silly, especially if its not even breadboard-friendly.
