PWM hardware for D1 mini

I am a noob at electric components, so please bare with me.
On my ESP8266 (D1 mini) I need to output 5-8V as a scale, ie 1-10 resolution. I guess PWM can be used, but what other components do I need, a capacitor and a mosfet?
