Please advise external circuit to reset NodeMcu.

I have run into a problem with a bunch of NodeMcu from ebay - never happened before with other bunches.
If RST pin is connected to D0 as required for the deep sleep, the chip does not start up when powered on. When RST button is pressed, it does start and works OK - Deep Sleep and else.
In my assembly there is no physical access to the board but I might be able to add an external button to imitate the RST. Any advice on the circuitry, please ...
