Has any one successfully wired a ESP8266EX to a EEPROM chip instead of a flash? Where I live no one sells Flash chips bigger than 512k and I need at least 4. I dont want to import from USA if it is possible to use EEPROM.

You do know the ESP isn't a US product, but a Chinese one?
Why not directly buy a 4MB ESP8266 instead?

I got my hand on a ESP8266EX chip and I'm building a prototype for a project. If I buy a ESP12 it make the whole board bigger and more expensive.

what (typecode) do you consider an EEPROM vs. a flash chip?
flash is just a special version of eeprom.
