I've got the unknown/new(&) version of ESP8266 WeMos D1 Mini Module from China. See pictures. Does anybody know what the hell is this? The new one is on the right side.

When you receive a module from China (eBay, AliExpress, ...), it could just be a cheap knock off; It doesn't have to be an actual (new) module design.
I even wonder if even the board on the left is an original Wemos.

Sadly this is true. The module doesn't work properly, so I suggest to send such modules back.
