#24532 Hello all,

This is a great community, and I'm pleased to be making my first post--although it is a question!

I've done numerous searches on powering the ESP8266--on the forum and across the web. I've found bits and pieces of the answer I'm looking for, but I'm still not entirely sure. I know that the board needs 3.3V, so I've got a voltage regulating circuit setup that puts out 3.3V and 1A of current. I plan to use SparkFun FTDI Basic Breakout - 3.3V to connect to the computer, but I've seen various posts that suggest this board doesn't supply ample current/power for the ESP8266. I'm wondering what the ideal set up is for the FTDI and the ESP8266, so all modules get the power/current they need. Should I power the two units independently? Can I run both units through the voltage regulator I have? The FTDI board will draw power from the computer, so I'm not sure how that would work in a circuit with a voltage regulator.

Thank you for the time and consideration--all input is greatly appreciated!
