program arduino wirelessly

Hi,
For my project I need to program and reprogram multiple arduino's from one base computer. All of the arduino's will have their own esp8266 and therefore their own ip address. Would it be possible to stream the arduino code to the esp8266 which will write it to the arduino using the serial port, thus basically using the esp8266 as wireless usb/serial cable?
I found some stuff at hackaday ( http://hackaday.com/2014/11/13/programm ... e-esp8266/ ) but it didn't do the trick for me. Also it looks kind of complicated. Isn't there an easier way to do this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks!
