I am working on a tutorials playlist for the ESP8266.

My latest tutorial shows how to toggle the Arduino's digital pins with some buttons from a webpage using JQuery

Hey - you've got some great content going on there!

If you are soliciting suggestions - how about one on using esp8266 in a stand-alone mode?

That is - without an arduino as an additional mcu?

You could show the use of lua for example?

Good idea. I do know lua very well, for those wanting to learn it I recommend this book http://www.amazon.com/Programming-Lua-Roberto-Ierusalimschy/dp/859037985X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420467287&sr=8-1&keywords=lua , it's written by the designer of the language and is pretty short.
