How to get a response from the ESP8266

I have kind of resigned. Have 2 modules - none of them give any kind of life sign. On one module i have followed different flash loader recipes, the other one is untouched out of the bag.

What is the chance i got two dead units? They both give a short blue flash at power on / reset

What are you wanting them to do? The blue flash is normal - that is it sending a serial message to say it has booted.

If you did not have the blue led blinking I would be more worried.

I believe these 2 are working correct. What models do you have?

I have the same problem. I am using Mac osSierra 10.12.1. I have down loaded and installed the Silicon Labs driver, http://www.silabs.com/Support%20Documen ... Driver.zip, and the CH34x_Install driver.

I connect from the usb in my computer to the the micro usb on the ESP8266 development board. When I connect power, the blue light flashes. I set the Arduino IDE to nodeMCU 1.0(ESP-12E) Module as shown in by boards list. I cannot download programs and the port does not indicate the ones I think I should see.

I know I'm doing something wrong, and it is probably a simple fix - but I could use some help.
