Blue LED flashing, no WiFi but reprogramming possible

Hello,
sometimes i'm faced with ESP-01 breakdown and only having red LED on and blue LED fast flashing. It seems the chip is trapped in a constant reboot-loop. When i attach a serial terminal, i can read about restarts over and over.
After playing around i found out, that reflashing with the SAME (non-genuine) firmware doe not change anything. Even erasing the flash by writing 1MB stubfile (containts only 0xFF's) at address 0x0000 and flash firmware again, i can't get out this "blue flash of death" loop.
The only rescue-procedure which works, was to flash genuine AT-firmware and then the custom one.
Can anybody explain what i'm faced here? I don't get the difference in flashing a custom and a genuine firmware. Both should overwrite the flash... or?
