ESP8266 to XMega Interfacing and Audio Transfer

Fairly new to the ESP, I bought here (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13678). I was hoping to transfer the voice signals in form of digital data form one XMega256A3BU to another one. Any advice on how to get there and where to get started?
