Connection

I tried to connect esp8266 with arduino,when I opened the serial monitor to send AT commands.I got the message as shown in the screenshot.It didn't display as ready.Suggest some remedy for this problem.

1. What exactly did you send?
2. Are you terminating your sent lines with CR/LF?

Thank You . I rectified the problem . I have a doubt regarding connection with the arduino.Can i connect Esp8266 to arduino and make serial communication wirelessly . I am using external power source to power the arduino and esp8266 .Please guide me regarding this.
