Issues with Arduino IDE and ESP8266 boards?

I'm relatively new to Arduino and ESP8266. But, less than a week ago I had a prototype working. Using Arduino IDE 1.8.2 linux ARM version installed on a Raspberry Pi3 with a Jessie install from January - fully updated as of the end of April.

I have a Adafruit HUZZAH feather I ordered less than 2 months ago, and had a test sketch using an HTU21D-F to push temp/hum readings up to an io.adafruit.com feed. Everything was great and worked well, until I was cleaning up some files and fooling with file locations and LXDE settings on the Pi. I ran into some problems so I tried a Dist update to Jessie Pixel and some other library updates. I hit a wall, and long story short I had to reinstall from scratch (or rather decided to).

Now have a fresh install of Raspbian Jessie w/PIXEL and fresh install of Arduino 1.8.2 LinuxARM.

The problem is that when I add the board .json to the preferences, the ESP boards never show up.

http://arduino.esp8266.com/stable/packa ... index.json

I can't get this to load in a browser and I can't get the board listing to show up in the board manager to re-install the board. It just keeps saying "cannot load ....json"

Any help is greatly appreciated, this is driving me nuts and halted all work on my project.

For future reference in case any one else has this issue my friend and I figured it out after hours of troubleshooting.

There url above "was" the generic all versions .json - to get it to work we had to use the latest version specific url instead. I'm not sure if it will properly update, but at least it worked for now to move forward.

This url worked:

http://arduino.esp8266.com/versions/2.3 ... index.json

How did you solve the Url manager?, bcoz in the current version of arduino for ARM (experimental) doesn't appear , and I don't know how to properly write in the text note of "preferences"
