Sonoff - wemod D1 - Flash IC's

Hi All
New user to this fine community , glad to be here.
I have been experimenting with a sonoff SV and a wemos D1 , i have been trying to get the flash ic on a sonoff to work on a wemos D1.
I am comfortable with micro soldering etc .
I have transferred the flash from a sonoff SV to a wemos d1 , but on bootup i get a boot loop saying this .
ets Jan 8 2013,rst cause:2, boot mode:(3,6)
load 0x40100000, len 2408, room 16
tail 8
chksum 0xe5
load 0x3ffe8000, len 776, room 0
tail 8
chksum 0x84
load 0x3ffe8310, len 632, room 0
tail 8
chksum 0xd8
csum 0xd8
2nd boot version : 1.6
SPI Speed : 40MHz
SPI Mode : DOUT
SPI Flash Size & Map: 8Mbit(512KB+512KB)
jump to run user2 @ 81000
Clearly something is wrong ,putting the flash chip back on the sonoff it works perfectly , placing the flash chip back on the wemos again works perfectly .
I have checked the pin outs etc for the ic's and they the same , so i can only presume there is something on the sonoff , i am under the assumption that there is no programmable area inside the actual esp8266ex.
I have also tried dumping a known good sonoff and programming the D1 with similar results.
Has anyone else attempted this ?
Many Thanks
