garage door status

I want to use my sonoff 4ch Pro to handle my three garage doors. I think I can deal with the actual activation of the garage door using the inching relays on the board.
But, I need to have door status information or I might as well just use the push buttons that came with the door openers. Each of the openers (they're 16 years old...) has two limit switches on the door track -- one for fully open, and the other for fully closed. They're 12 volt DC switches, meaning that when they close, they complete a circuit with a 12 volt potential. Or, I could mount my own door contacts, but that does seem like overkill.
Any ideas about how I can
Do I need to use Tasmota and MQTT, etc. or can I use eWeLink?

- Use the GPIOs on the Sonoff to detect door position
Use the existing switches to feed the status
