ESP8266 to ESP8266 without server

I am trying to communicate between 2 ESP's without a server. One ESP will be the master and have push button inputs. The second ESP will be the slave and activate relays based on button pushes.
Is this possible and any suggestions on how to go about this

ESP NOW, But i have not tried yet. Google it.
