ESP8266WiFi.h Not Found

I've loaded the latest Arduino IDE, loaded the ESP8266 boards & selected the board for the Wemos D1 Mini.
However, it won't compile code that includes the library ESP8266WiFi.h
It fails compilation saying:
fatal error: ESP8266WiFi.h: No such file or directory
It's totally doing my nut in...
Any help gratefully appreciated.
