ESP-01 module: default firmware and no open ports issue

I bought a couple of those relay+wifi modules, I powered one up and I see the AP from my phone. Tried to open the http page, but destination unreachable.
I scanned the 192.168.4.0 subnet: the module is 192.168.4.1, but no open ports.
Is that a standard conf.? I thought I could just connect with its web server and soft configure SSID and PSK to enter the client mode..Silly question? hope it's not
