www.esp8266.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate expired on 11 June 2018, 03:15. The current time is 11 June 2018, 18:15.

I already warned Richard about this via PM, but apparently he's busy at the moment. :idea:

There's nothing wrong with the website, only its certificate has expired; nothing to worry about.
