- Wed Mar 04, 2015 1:13 pm #11287 I have an ESP01 module with a LUA script that works fine. It's just a script that gets a web URL when a switch changes position. It's set up to run through init.lua and this works fine too.

Apart from when I unplug my USB serial adapter from the board. Then it doesn't work.

Clearly it's very hard to find out why when there's no USB adapter plugged in.

I've got a good separate 3.3v supply to the board - the only connections between the ESP01 and the USB adapter are ground, tx, rx. Nothing else.

Is this a known issue?

- Thu Mar 05, 2015 1:13 am #11341 I think you have to disconnect the RX and TX from USB/USART adapter. It helped me.

- Sun Mar 15, 2015 9:43 am #12009 Sorry this was not clear. Nothing was conneted to tx and rx - they we just left floating.

Pulling them up to VCC with a 10k resistor fixes the issue and enables startup to continue. Bit inconvenient though.

- Sun Mar 15, 2015 10:35 am #12014 You shouldn't need to pull them both up, since only RX is an input. Perhaps the pullup necessity is dependent on the version of firmware? I have not encountered it.
