I got a NodeMCU with MicroUSB connector.
Now I'd like to power this device directly - without USB.

Is it ok to connect directly to 5V (VIN) and GND.
Or do I have to care about something else ?

- Tue Dec 08, 2015 8:36 pm #36032 You DO NOT want to power a esp8266 directly with 5v. If you need to use a 5v supply you will need a AMS115 or similar 5v to 3.3v buck converter to power the device.

- Wed Dec 09, 2015 8:33 pm #36119 I will add to Mmiscool's post. Amazon does have some variable power supplies you can buy and hookup. I would suggest try to find either a variable power supply or a variable power converter.
