I was just wondering if anyone can come with an idea how we could update chip FW over wifi interface? I can clearly do it having two ESP8266 connected together but how about singe chip solution, You think it is (or will ever be?) possible?

I'm asking because I'll propably put my boards inside wall power sockets so I'll be unable to update the FW anytime soon without much effort and as we all know - in this moment FW is quite buggy and have all these child-age issues so I'll have to do the update sooner or later.

Yes, it is 100% possible and I am updating on that way only.

With this, you can update your own firmware from local cloud.
After that you just need to implement a small transparent layer so that you can send the Update command over WLAN.

BTW, my module also placed inside wall
