#42883 Hello,

I just wanted to test a thing on my NodeMCU but when I connected it to the PC nothing happened. No WIndows "connected device" sound, no flashing LED on the ESP module, nothing. However when I powered with 5V to the VIN pin, everything worked.

Do you have any suggestions of how should I troubleshoot this? Also if something has burned out is it possible to program the Lua with a FTDI module, ignoring the USB?

Thanks.

#43035 I detected the same issue both on my Windows Desktop computer and my Mac. Sometimes it detects my USB-TO-SERIAL device, and sometimes don't. It got worse after I connected to an Wifi AP and it because automatic. After I switched off automatic connection, I got to connect to it just powered by USB. I think there is something about noise or peaks during Wifi communications that is generating trouble on the USB bus, because the current sink is good to USB spec (500mA). I tried to place a capacitor on the power lines with no success.

Maybe we really need a good power filtering (try some ferrites for high frequency filtering) or just an external power in order to avoid those irregularities.
