Having difficulty installing with board manager

I have pasted the address http://arduino.esp8266.com/stable/packa ... index.json into the url field of the board manager for Arduino 1.6.6 and nothing happens. I would like to be able to work with sketches that use the NodeMcu Lua WIFI Internet Things development board based ESP8266 CP2102 module. Specifically to make the project outlined in this project. http://www.instructables.com/id/ESP8266-Weather-Widget/ .

Arduino 1.6.6 has tons of bugs, so don't use that one. It is better to stick with 1.6.5.

I second that and add that I tried 1.6.7 with no luck with recognizing any ESP boards. I have kept 1.6.7 on one machine because the new Arduino 101 requires it, but for other programming, I am sticking with 1.6.5.

I downloaded 1.6.5 and the same thing happens. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I go to the boards manager and paste in the url and it stares back at me. If I close the window there are no esp boards listed. See attached photo.
