I started an internal project on a MAC with a stage Version 1.6.5-804-g2d340c7 (June 2015) , which depends on the Soft-Access-Point mode. With this setup the example(s/ESP8266WiFi/WiFiAccessPoint.ino) works as expected. I can connect with an iPhone 4S can access the provided webpage just fine. But trying this to replicate on a Windows PC with any current Version is almost impossible. The example compiles an uploads just fine on a ESP-01 or an ESP-12F module, but connecting to the Access Point takes forever or mostly it did not connect at all. If a have finally a connecting then I can’t access the webpage.
With the help of the WiFi Analyzer App on an Android tablet i can see the Signal Level and the used WiFi channel which are here around luckily only a few. And even with this raw measurement I can see a distinction between MAC and Windows version. The (older) Mac version is much more stable as the (newer) Windows version, which is disappearing for a few second all the time. It took me a while and some hustle to bring an older Version on Windows from the git repository in working condition, which can compile, upload the ESPap example. I was able to revive this commit https://github.com/esp8266/Arduino/comm ... be9c89a547 , which is from 16 Juli 2015. With this version the WiFiAccessPoint.ino example works just fine.
Please can anybody confirm my findings? Is the WiFiAccessPoint example working fine or is it showing the same funky results?
