Communication between Arduino and nodeMCU

I'm trying to do the communication between a Arduino Nano and a NodeMCU, to transfer some variables.
I tried the Arduino EasyTransfer (https://github.com/madsci1016/Arduino-EasyTransfer), between Arduino works, but not with nodemcu.
any suggestion?
