How to use ESP8266 (Arduino OTA) to flash an UNO?

Hello,

How to use the Arduino IDE with port generated by Arduino OTA, to write the Arduino UNO flash (or another one that is supported) instead of writing the ESP8266 flash?

Thank you.

An alternative:

I found the HW VSP3, the Arduino IDE will show a (virtual) serial port and the HW VSP3 will connect to the ESP-Link service automatically.

I tested with Arduino Pro Mini (5V 16MHz) + ESP-01 (ESP-Link) + HW VSP3 Single and it worked (O.S. Win7 x64).

HW VSP is a software driver that adds a virtual serial port (e.g. COM5) to the operating system and redirects the data from this port via a TCP/IP network to another hardware interface, which is specified by its IP address and port number. HW VSP3 support even NT Services and 64 bit Windows 8 .
Licence type: Freeware

SW version:
HW VSP3 Single
HW VSP3 Multi

Features:

Free, unrestricted Virtual Serial Port driver for any TCP/IP devices
Compatible with Windows 2000, XP (Win 98, NT), Windows 8 NEW& even 32-bit or 64 bit.
Runs as a standalone application, or as a NT service suitable for servers
Option to start at Windows startup and minimize to System Tray
Single-port (free) and multi-port (commercial) version
Supports RFC 2217, allowing to change remote serial port parameters (such as speed, parity, stop bits) over TCP using NVT
VSP driver typically operates as a “TCP client”; however, it can also be used as a “TCP server” (useful for GPRS applications)
Configuration stored in an INI file
Configuration protected with a password
Supports UAC (User Account Control)

Applications and usage:

Using devices connected via RS-232 with legacy SW, no need to change existing utilities
Remote PBX management – PBX billing / accounting
Connecting payment terminals
Wireless remote serial port – through WiFi
UPS supervision over SNMP or with proprietary SW
Connecting a barcode reader to existing SW
Connecting serial printers and labelers
Remote control of industrial assembly lines, visualization

hearsay? any reference for proof?

I wouldn't trust a common CEOs remark on technical details ...

It might not damage the chip, but a simple series resistor between esp8266 RX and 5V TX line to limit current through protective clamp diodes is "good practise" and no overkill.

The poster is likely a spammer putting a link to some website onto this forum; the reply is an exact copy from this one on Arduino.cc posted a year ago
