I am using Wemos D1 mini for my DIY home automation project. It has a ESP8266 chip with a PCB trace antenna for WiFi transmission.

The issue is, I am putting the Wemos D1 mini in a stainless steel box which is weakening the wifi catchment capacity of ESP8266.

Is there any way I can solder an external antenna to the PCB trace antenna of ESP8266? Attaching pic with the post for a reference.
