Nice. This has been an invaluable resource with the list of exception codes and the description of the problems.

:D

Hey Neil,

Thanks for your great book.
On the last page, you write "What is SSDP and how does it related to the SSDP libraries?".

That's the Simple Service Discovery Protocol, a part of UPnP.

A growing number of so called smart devices are implementing UPnP, and SSDP is the way to discover them on your network. If I would equip a ESP8266 with a sensor (motion detector, smoke sensor, ..), then I could write an app that implements these protocols. You should then be able to remotely query the sensor state, but also an alarm central (on another ESP8266?) could register for notifications from all such sensors.

But any "smart tv" or your home router will do UPnP as well.

Cheers,
Danny

Hi Neil,

great e-book thanks for sharing. I have two remarks.

First, I found that in chapter "Sample – Playing audio from an event" there is no sample code.

Second, it would be great to have a example using the o VS1053 mp3 decoder with the ESP8266.

Best
Michael

Thanks for the continued work on the book but one request.
Can you make the index "Active" by linking the page numbers and heading to the actual pages?
