#5181 Hello everyone,

I've just ordered myself a batch of these chips. I think I will get ESP-07 that is more like ESP-12 (with more additional pins).

I'm very new to this whole scene ESP8266s and more advanced micro controlling & processing.

My question:

- What's the benefit of having 2 more pins?
- Could you please explain (or lead me to somewhere where I can read on my own) a simple explanation of the purpose / usage of all pins? (in simpleton terms).

Thanks!

#5184 I've just received those modules - sold as ESP-07 but it arrived with 16 pins, it has a metal can, uFl connector as well as chip antenna.

It is discussed here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=751

In this case, the extra pins are ADC,reset and an extra pair of GPIO's, GPIO4&5.

This is because on the 14 pin variant of ESP-07. a pin is NC and another provides another antenna connection.

I think reset is handy for very low power modes, haven't got to that bit yet!!

ADC is obviously useful, if nothing else, keeping an eye on battery voltage.
