- Tue Dec 16, 2014 3:48 pm #4976 I got mine from a source inside china; they are about 1.5 USD for small quantities. It was about 25USD to get a batch shipped to .nl in Europe. I got lucky with the customs and got not charged import duties.

Search on taobao and get a taobao shipping agent and you get the bare chips for about 1.75 USD (most agents charge anout 10% for the handling) and a simular price for shipping.


Edit: any plans on getting it fcc approved?

ESP8266 has been FCC & CE certified.

ESP8266 has been FCC & CE certified.

You can only get FCC and CE approval on complete systems including the antenna. That post just demonstrates that if you properly design their chip into a larger system, then it will pass if the rest of the system is designed correctly. i.e. if the system fails FCC then it is not the fault of the ESP8266. Each separate PCB/antenna design needs to get FCC/CE approval. Bare chips can not get FCC approval, they are not finished systems.
