Hello,
because i am looking forward to receiving the few parts that are left to complete my ESP8266 breakout board i would like to know if it is actually recommendable to program the ESP8266 via the Espressif SDK and compiler under windows or if any kind of linux is easier to use?
I ask because i only know this article:

and it doesn't look very in depth in the windows part because things like 'wget' and 'dpkg' are linux related stuff, aren't they?
So what do you recommend? I don't want to use the arduino approach because i want to be as close to the hardware as possible.
