- Sat Jun 04, 2016 6:14 am #48554 Hi, I need to use a level shifter on a data line between an ESP8266-12 (3.0 / 3.3V) and a WS2812B pixel LED (4.5 / 5.0V). I''ve not done this with a FET before but seen it documented for use on I2C lines. Could please you have a look at the schematic (R2, R4 and Q1) and let me know if you've done this or have any concerns or comments. Link to PDF.

This is a little wearable for a Birthday party, there will be 10 of them that all sync. The board is layed out but I'm going to have to order them before I can test the level shifter. Hence the request for advice.

It is a very common type of level shifter, it will definitely work.

I am using a similar version of the same shifter which makes use of bipolar BC547 transistor, that is easier to find.
It works perfect.
