#56112 Hello everyone

As I explained in one of my previous post I tried using my ESP as a standalone device but I have not any luck and I ended up destroying 5 ESPs up at this point.

To begin with I am using a standard FTDI cheap and trying to flash a black ESP-01 brough from ebay. Everything seems fine up to the point that I stop connected GPIO0 to the ground (I exit "programming mode") after installing the NodeMCU firmware. Basically I am trying to follow this tutorial:
http://randomnerdtutorials.com/esp8266-web-server/

My wiring is the same as the following project:
http://esp8266.fancon.cz/esp8266-web-sw ... k-lua.html

So, after flashing my ESP and exit programming mode the red LED dims out (like there is a short circuit) and the unit starts heating up. When I reconnect the GPIO0 to the ground and reset the module everything works fine and the red led returns at its original state (ON).

So, what I am doing wrong? Are there any special settings on NodeMCU flasher? I am using 230400 baudarate, 512 flash size, 40MHz flashing speed and QIO as SPI mode. I left config tab as it was on default INTERNAL://NODEMCU on 0x00000
