If I posted in the wrong place, my apologies.
I developed a game device that can modernize old games and make the experience more enjoyable, using esp8266. Great device and great fun to use arduino IDE. Device is functional, working as expected and seem to be good fun over all. Sadly, as soon as I thought of marketing it, fun ended.
I am a small time inventor, and has never done any actual marketing. This device uses esp8266-12e based nodemcu. If it makes things easier for getting FCC clearance, I can use the bare esp8266-12e or some other module with FCC certification. I added a few sensors to the esp8266 and this runs on 3.6v battery power. The device will connect to wifi at home and be used over the home network.
So, the actual intentional radiator is esp8266. Rest of the components are not supposed to radiate. Is there a way, I can test my device ahead of time and avoid costly failures? I know it probably won't be anywhere near the rigor of actual testing but if something really stupid comes up before I run out of my budget to bring the device to market, that will help.
Considering the above scenario, do I need Declaration of conformance or certification? If a full certification is required, chances are, I will probably drop the project. I don't think I have the resources to bring it to market. However if it is DOC then perhaps, $1000 is something I can take on the chin and not cry.
Any help eagerly taken
Have a good day.
