Ping From a Station Interface When In APSTA mode ?

When I am configured for APSTA and the device is connected to local Lan via the Station Interface , Doing Pings to the local Lan IP's Fail .
If I change to STA mode , it all works fine .
Is there a method to set the interface to use ?
