Battery based project

Hi all

Just wondering what battery folks use to drive projects

I am using a dc/dc boost regular, a custom 328p board. Other radios (i.e. nRF24) will run nicely off Cr2477 coin cell battery -- but the esp8266 won't start up properly...
It seems to generate a large pulse drain when it boots up of 200mA ....

Is it possible to run the esp8266 over a reasonably small battery so that the device is portable/wearable....

I have been using a couple 18650 and then regulating it down

You need min 470mf capacitor for successful boot and working. I am using 2 aa battery(3v to 2.2v) and 470mf capacitor and it's working perfectly.but remember,rf performance and signal quality dropping with voltage

Why not use a flat LiPo battery? Even the high-current ones can be found as thin as 3 mm. I use a diode or super-low-dropout regulator (like TLV1117LV33) to bring the voltage down to a level which is safe for the chip.
