TCP Server in C

I just downloaded the sdk and started a little project using the ESP-03.
So far I got the wifi connection established (AP as well as Station), so that works.
Now, I'm trying to setup a tcp server on the ESP8266, so I can connect to it remotely.
I read through the programming guide and looked at a few examples, but I couldn't figure it out.
Does someone know how to do that or has some example code ?
