Does the esp8266 easily hangup and doesn't respond for no apparent reason? Well I get that a lot. Do you think the esp8266 can be used in actual consumer iot products?

I was just thinking about this the other day. I think if you mixed some good programming with some clever hardware tricks you could have an extremely reliable and cost effective solution. I definitely need to start using the hard reset pin with hardware. I am using the factory firmware and AT commands. Lua seems like a much better option, but i need to dig in a bit deeper.
The only hang ups I have had are software related. I am sure most my problems come from being an inexperienced programmer.
I have my concerns when it comes to noise. I here the TI WIFI CC3200 has a noise problem. Not sure if anyone has had problems, but I haven't seen anything bad with the esp8266.
