RF feedback or interference

Anyone besides myself having troubles which seem to be related to rf feedback or interference?
I have one breadboard setup with an -12 chip which works reliably every time. But another bb with -01 chips is just flakey all the time.
I finally determined that the orientation of the bb, the power wires, the USB-serial wires, and holding my mouth just so makes the difference between success and failure.
Also, I have an Amazon Echo sitting about 10" from my bb setup - it sometimes goes offline from my network at the times the -01 is accessing wifi!
If anyone has any tips to tame this rf please let me know. I'm using bypass caps, and have found that replacing long loopy DuPont cables on the bb with short solid wires, and cutting leads on LEDs & resistors seems to help.
